Good News

Shuta Hasunuma & U-Zhaan's "Good News" will be released on February 16th, 2022. Since the release of their previous album "2 Tone," the two have continued to perform and collaborate in various ways while pursuing their solo careers, and this long-awaited new album is a completely instrumental work.

The album includes the title track "Good News," featuring Babui, a player of the North Indian stringed instrument sarod; "Go Around," which reaffirms the excellent compatibility between dance music and tabla; "6 Perspectives," a re-arrangement of a piece Hasunuma wrote specifically for an exhibition video; "Septem," based on a tabla solo performance of the traditional North Indian classical rhythm of Rupak (7 beats); and "Guess Who," with its striking polyrhythm that sounds like 4 beats and 5 beats being played simultaneously. While the tracks are diverse in style, each one is simply pleasing to the ear. Mastering was done by Kentaro Kimura (kimken studio), and artwork by Rikako Nagashima (villageR).

Shuta Hasunuma & U-Zhaan's new album, "Good News," will be released on February 16, 2022. We've been working on it carefully, and five years have passed since our previous album, "2 Tone."

This album is a collection of only instrumental songs. We created it with the sole thought of making it sound pleasant to our ears, and we hope that everyone will enjoy it too.

We once again asked Nagashima Rikako to handle the artwork. As with "2 Tone," the album title was also decided by Nagashima. She apparently liked the title of the first track, "Good News," and said, "I want to keep 'Good News' as the title and create a design that makes it seem like you've received a letter from Hasunuma and Yu-zan with some good news inside."

These days, it's hard to find any positive news whether you turn on the TV or open the internet, but I hope that the release of this album will bring some good news to everyone.
