Shuta Hasunuma Fulfill: Fullphony (LP)

The eye-catching artwork is the work of Tadanori Yokoo. We also recommend the record-sized version with its larger jacket. The back cover features visuals full of Yokoo's playful spirit. In response to this, the B-side contains my remix. (Store Manager)

Shuta Hasunuma Fulfill x Tadanori Yokoo!

A culmination of a modern pop orchestra with a total of 26 members. A vivid concerto ensemble colored by the individual personalities of each member. In addition to the members of the modern philharmonic pop orchestra "Hasunuma Shuta Phil" conducted by musician and artist Hasunuma Shuta, 10 members were selected from auditions held in 2017, and a total of 26 members have joined, "Hasunuma Shuta Full Phil", to create the new album "Fullphony".

Premiering at Sumida Triphony Hall in 2018 and performed at numerous live venues, including Fuji Rock Festival 2019 and Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, these familiar tracks are finally available on audio. This album, which includes 10 tracks, features the lead track (M1) "wind and windows." This airy piece features a striking melody that instantly makes it recognizable as a "Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic signature." The album then continues with "FULLPHONY," an orchestral piece consisting of four movements (M2-5). The album opens with an ambient piece (M2) that encourages the performers to catch their breath, followed by a magnificent landscape reminiscent of Tadanori Yokoo's artwork (M3). The album then shifts to a tight, minimalist rhythm (M4), before reaching its final movement (M5), where the orchestra's energy reaches its peak. The second half of the album (M7-M10) features remixes by Shuta Hasunuma himself, each with a different approach, while retaining the memorable phrases of the original.

With rich orchestration from live performances and remixes that include electronic elements, this album is a cutting-edge collection of soundtracks.

"Fullphony" has been in the works for a long time.

This ensemble piece, performed by the Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic and 10 musicians who were recruited through a public call in 2017, premiered at Sumida Triphony Hall in the summer of 2018 and was recorded in the studio in the spring of 2019. It was subsequently performed on stage at the Fuji Rock Festival and Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall's "Hibiya, Time Plays," and over time, this piece has become embodied as our own music.

When I first decided to release "Fullphony," the first visual that came to mind was the "Japan Original Landscape Journey" series, in which Tadanori Yokoo created landscape paintings while traveling around Japan for two years in the early 1970s. From that series, I selected "Onuma and Komagaoka," and even commissioned Yokoo to create the artwork himself. This Hokkaido landscape, Mount Komagaoka, is illuminated by a sunset-like light, yet the blue sky stretches out, lotus flowers bloom on Lake Onuma, fish leap, and swans swim. The lush green banks are home to fruit trees, flowers bloom, and birds and insects live naturally. It feels as though the living and non-living things depicted are coexisting.

It will be released digitally on August 26th, and on CD and LP vinyl on October 28th. This is a song full of co-creation and harmony. Let's live our lives with energy and sensitivity.
