Shuta Hasunuma: Sazaedo in 2020 (Book)
This is the exhibition catalog for the group exhibition "Ota Art Vol. 3: Sazaedo in 2020 - Contemporary Spirals and 100 Paintings," held at the Ota Art Museum and Library in 2020. Unfortunately, the exhibition ended midway through due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time, but it has been recorded in the form of a catalog. Curated by Koganezawa Satoshi, the catalog includes the exhibited works and an interview about my activities. It also includes contributions from Fukuoka Shinichi and Takahashi Yuichi, making it a truly luxurious collection. It was a difficult time to see an exhibition at the time, but I hope that this catalog will give you a taste of the group exhibition. (Store Manager)
The "Turban Turban Hall" is a Buddhist temple with a spiral structure. Four artists using different techniques reexamine the "Turban Turban Hall" and the "spiral" from a modern perspective.
This grand attempt challenges human perception and physical sensations, exploring the meaning of faith in modern times and the structure and significance of the "Turmeric Hall." Takahashi Daisuke takes on the challenge of exhibiting 100 paintings, following the example of the "Hyaku Kannon Pilgrimage." Hasunuma Shuta uses music and video to highlight the differences between two spiral structures. Mise Natsunosuke has constructed a spiral space using large-scale paintings. Mochida Atsuko has created a physical spiral labyrinth within the museum.
"What is the nature of contemporary art museums and exhibitions?", "What does it mean to accept others?", "What is the relationship between art and faith?" - fundamental questions emerge that transcend the themes of the exhibition.
