ALMA MUSIC BOX: Melody of a Dying Star Concert with Kyoto Symphony Orchestra

ALMA is the largest high-performance radio telescope in history, built in the Chilean desert at an altitude of 5,000 meters, with the cooperation of 21 countries. This time, we are using valuable data from R Sculptoris, a star that is 950 light-years away from Earth (a distance that would take 950 years to reach at the speed of light), and is nearing the end of its life. This invisible radio data is transformed into an audio and video installation.

At the Kyoto Okazaki Music Festival OKAZAKI LOOPS, held on September 3rd and 4th, 2016, a grand-scale concert was held, based on "Melody of the Dying Star," featuring music composed by musicians active both in Japan and abroad, performed together with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra.
