Hayama Ambient | the Ambient Surroundings in HAYAMA
After one summer exhibition at a museum in Hayama ends and the next one begins,
The exhibition room will be empty for just a moment.
Something will happen in this empty space this summer.
This summer, the Museum of Modern Art, Hayama will host "Hayama Ambient" (August 1st), a music event planned and organized by musician Shuta Hasunuma, set in an empty exhibition room while the museum is closed for exhibition changes. While the museum has previously held various events in conjunction with exhibitions, this will be the first time that an event will be held in an empty space where no artworks are on display. Come and experience for yourself how ambient music takes shape in a space that is neither an event hall nor a live music venue: a museum.

An empty museum with no artworks on display. An improvised performance by a quintet composed entirely of electronic sounds dominates the museum space. The electronic sounds by the five artists, installed separately in each exhibition room, emerge as a new ambient music that surrounds the audience. Additionally, the lighting by Takayuki Watanabe and the performance by Teita Iwabuchi improvise and change in response to the audience's movements, returning to their environment. By moving around each exhibition room at the Museum of Modern Art, Kanagawa & Hayama, audiences can connect each of the resounding electronic sounds and experience the sound work as both music and an environment.
