What is the power of words? What is the power of music? What does it mean to share time and space? What is indispendensable for performing arts to be…? I would like to reflect once again on these simple questions regarding performing arts, exploring what poetry, music and theater have in common. I hope that it will be some kind of happening that could be called “time” or “gathering,” generated from a focus on what “performance” is, in contrast to the current mode of performing arts, which tend to be defined as a unit by an artist's name a title.

・・・・・・・・・・・・

Shuta Hasunuma has been exploring new relationships between the space in which music is played, the gestures of diverse musicians, and the visual and sonic experience through live performances. Ryouta Yamada has been exploring forms of poetic language beyond publication and reading. This is an attempt to reconsider performing arts from the viewpoints of the two artists, whose activities are free from the established ideas in the genres, namely “music” and “poetry,” which involve both media reproduction and live performance.

"time"

"Time" can mean "hours" and also refers to the "time" recorded in sports, etc.
It is the title, the seed of inspiration, and the time of this gathering itself.
Hasunuma Shuta explores new relationships between the performance space, the performers' gestures, and the viewing experience in live music performances. Yamada Ryota explores the nature of poetic words in a variety of forms, not just through print or recitation. Inspired by these two artists' unconventional activities in their respective fields, they will consider and execute ways to share time and space while making the most of the potential of performers with different backgrounds in music, poetry, theater, dance, etc.

<Concept (Masayuki Nomura/Komagome Agora Theater Production)>
What is the power of words? What is the power of music? What does it mean to share the same time and space? What is it that performing arts cannot exist without?
While exploring what poetry, music, and theater have in common, I would like to reexamine a simple question related to performing arts.
In contrast to the way performing arts are discussed in units of "artist names" and "work titles," I hope that this will become an event like a "time" or "gathering" that is born from the perspective of "what is a performance?"
