I will be in charge of the music and performance for a dance performance planned by Mirai Moriyama. This is Mirai's first collaboration with Ella. Although it has been a short period of time, the two have been working together closely on a creative project.

Naturally, I am writing this before the performance. Our performance will begin after you read this. I would like you to see for yourself what kind of crystallization will result in the latest version of this piece.
I believe that once a work is created, it grows on its own, free from the artist's hands. Bringing that lost presence back into the present requires a force even greater than its past. This process is extremely demanding, and it can be quite testing. Mirai and Ella's recreation of this work was precisely such an environment. And it seems they are striving to go even further. In other words, it's a creation that better fits the description of an "update" than a "restaging." This latest work, "JUDAS, CHRIST WITH SOY," is the third update. It premiered in September 2014 in Israel, where Mirai was staying at the time, and this July it was performed at the Uchiko-za Theatre in Ehime Prefecture. The original production, a residency with musician Seigo Yoshii, resulted in a collaboration that deepened the connection between physical movement and music (and their performance) even more than the original. Now, Mirai has contacted me, inviting me to contribute my music to the third update, and we've begun collaborating.
This time, I researched the communication between Mirai and Ella and the sense of distance between them very carefully. The composition began with that research. It was a necessary act for creating music that directly addresses the two people's attitude of accepting all communication, whether it be understanding or misunderstanding, and updating the work. My music this time does not just fill the performance space with the atmosphere of something intangible, music, but also exists in itself as a completely new essence.
