◆Purpose of the project Since 2007, Kobe Art Village Center has been holding an exhibition by up-and-coming young artists called "Exhibition as media" every autumn.
This time, we welcome musician Shuta Hasunuma. In addition to releasing musical works, Hasunuma has a multifaceted practice that includes live performances, exhibitions, workshops, event production, and providing music for commercials and films. In February of this year, he held his first large-scale solo exhibition, "Soundlike," at Asahi Art Square (Tokyo), which was well received. In July, he also attracted attention with his appearance in the concert project "Music Today on Fluxus: Shuta Hasunuma vs. Mieko Shiomi" at the National Museum of Art, Osaka.
This will be Hasunuma's first solo exhibition in the Kansai region. In addition to works from his previous exhibition "Soundlike," the exhibition will also feature new works created during fieldwork in Kobe, where the Center is located, and Nairobi, where Hasunuma undertook a residency in May. We hope that you will be able to experience Hasunuma's "soundlike" world through this exhibition, which makes use of the unique spatial features of the Center, which includes a gallery, theater, and studio.

・Workshop "A new walk in Shinkaichi: Collecting sounds to create a graphic score and perform it"
We will walk around Shinkaichi, Kobe, collect sounds, and create a graphic score. Afterwards, all participants will perform the music. The music will be printed on a CD and given to you.

・Live performance "Tamaki ROY x Shuta Hasunuma x U-zhaan"
An improvisation trio consisting of Shuta Hasunuma, rapper Tamaki ROY, and tabla player U-zhaan. They will perform alongside sounds from the works in the KAVC Theater exhibition room. Enjoy a live performance by this unique trio, creating new methods of improvisation on the spot.

●Artist profile
Shuuta Hasunuma
Born in Tokyo in 1983.
He has released musical works and organized the Hasunuma Shuta Philharmonic Orchestra, which has performed concerts both in Japan and overseas. In 2011, he held solo exhibitions such as "have a go at flying from music part 3" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo/Bloomberg Pavilion, and in 2013, "soundlike" at Asahi Art Square.
Since 2014, he has been living in New York, USA, at the invitation of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC).
